Quekex 2012

The Club’s annual exhibition will take place on Saturday 6th October 2012 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm in the Dorothea Bate Room of the Natural History Museum, South Kensington.

This is our major meeting open to invited guests with any interest in microscopes and microscopy, so we want an interesting and attractive exhibition for members and guests to enjoy.

The main attractions are planned to be:

A variety of exhibits and demonstrations by members and other invited parties;

1 A display of the history, types and some uses of the polarising microscope;
2 A display of photographs and posters;
3 A hands on display for children and all interested visitors;
4 The entries for the Eric Marson Award for excellence in slide-making.

Have an idea for an exhibit of your especial interest?
To book a club microscope for your display and/or to book space (needed by mid-September to help plan an attractive layout) contact Joan Bingley (details below).

Have photographs, videos or plans for a poster?
Let Joan Bingley know what you’re planning so those putting together this area of the exhibition can be ready to display them effectively on the day.  Information on submission of material is available and exhibits of appropriate standard will be awarded Barnard Certificates.

Make your own slides?
Submit up to 3 of your best work for an Eric Marson Award.  Full details of rules and entry forms are available through the Club website or from Joan Bingley.

Enthusiastic about polarised light and its uses?
Please share ideas, instruments or exhibits for this group display with Joan Bingley as soon as possible so we can mount an excellent show that will encourage visitors to use these techniques for themselves.

To encourage attendance by interested non-members, invitations will be available in both card and electronic formats.  Please give these to anyone who may be interested in coming to this event.  Anyone without a membership card or invitation will only be admitted on the day if they can establish their genuine interest.
